Came back 5 mins later to a black screen. Just the other day I performed a Windows+L to lock my screen to go get a coffee. I think it is simply flakiness of the Windows 10 Pro OS on Surface Pro! More and more issues on this machine as time goes on. It isn't a case of the VPN connection being disabled.

did not get alerts for this and been extremely busy.

I can see online there are some articles on this but they are old - 2014/15 and seem to be related to Win 8(.1) too. Getting really annoying as it is happening daily! This happens with different APs, so it is an issue with the Surface Pro (or Windows within). Network, it either fails or is unable to get an IP address. Opening Wifi via Settings works, but when you try to connect to a known In fact, if you click on the networking icon on the system tray the pop-up pane contains nothing - just a blank. Occasionally, it gets even worse where the wifi is not able to connect. Is there a fix for this networking issue? On version 1703 on the Surface and the laptop is on the latest version - no change after the update. On seems to place the Surface in the same state as it was prior to shutting down!

The Shutdown doesn't appear to perform a full and proper shut down of the OS as powering it back note, I said Restart as even performing a Shutdown and powering it back on doesn't resolve the issue. After the OS has been put into sleep mode (or hibernation in the case of the laptop), most of the time the Windows PPTP VPN no longer allows a connection I have a Surface Pro 4 (Win10Pro) and this issue is also happening on a Lenovo T470p laptop too. I appreciate this is likely not a new issue, and if someone can point me to a genuine known fix I'd be very happy.
